Holiday Inn Carlsbad - San Diego, an IHG Hotel

Booked a last minute getaway trip. I was checked in by “L” who was courteous and welcoming. Had no issue pulling up my third party reservation. She provided me with instructions on how to get to my room and the availability of dining options on property. I was beyond parched and she generously offered me a complimentary bottled water for my guest and I. I would highly recommend this place. The room was recently renovated. The bed was up to standards and the business desk was perfect for getting some last minute stuff done. Bathroom was at standards and clean!!!! They have a mini fridge for your leftovers and a coffee machine in room.

So I came here because I was facing homelessness. I'm a very clean person and I got a really good deal here through the generosity of friends. I am so impressed if I could give 10 Stars I would because this place is amazing for my birthday when I first got here for two nights,Cassie and Elle just made it so special since I've been struggling so much with this situation that I'm in. Then this morning when I checked out on Sunday, the gentleman was so kind I got a free breakfast and the waitress was just wonderful and it's just so nice that in a world full of pain for senior citizens as myself that there are still nice people out there in the world that go over and Beyond. This place is amazing just amazing and I am so thankful and blessed that people allowed me to stay here for two nights so I could be safe. Thank you for being an amazing Hotel and such amazing people my brain is so scrambled I can't remember everybody that was there that helped me but everyone I came across was fantastic and caring thank you from the bottom of my heart. I forgot to make sure that you add Krista the server downstairs she was just as fantastic as everyone else thank you

I just spent 2 nights here and they were awful. I booked the Staybridge next door and was moved at the last minute because my room was being remodeled. I was told that I was getting a newly remodeled room and that remodeling had finished at the Holiday Inn. Neither of those were true. The room looked like the remodeling hadn't finished and what had been done was not done correctly. There were missing finishes, gauges in the wall, paint splattered on mechanicals, and things installed incorrectly overall a very poor job. There was also a conference room next to my room and I was woken up early with 2 dozen people hanging out outside my room and then had to listen to their meeting which could clearly be heard through the walls. This was slightly less annoying than the fire alarm that woke me up the night before. The restaurant took 3 tries to make my breakfast properly and then the staff all disappeared forcing me to go looking for them to close out. The front desk staff was not helpful or interested in resolving any of this. I rarely leave negative reviews but this was a truly awful experience that could have been reasonable with minimal effort from the hotel.
